Curtainside Vans
Almost every Marion truck body is custom built. Because we believe that our niche is to bring our customers personalized products for their individual needs, we work extra to make every truck body fit our customers' requirements. Many options are available on our standard line of Cutainside Vans and our engineering staff can custom design specialized ones.
Marion Curtainside Vans have been designed for maximum durability and ease of use. The foundation, undercoating, curtains, and front wall are specially constructed to withstand the rigors of over-the-road duty. Our curtainside vans also share many of the design standards which make our dry vans so durable, including precoated I-beam crossmembers, proprietary crossmember support in the wheel areas, and quality proven curtains.
Features
- Easy-Use, Durable Curtains
- Our Curtainside Vans feature full-length side curtains which easily slide open from either the front or the rear. Our curtains are made of a highly durable PVC coated polyester that provides side wall strength, is rip resistant, and can accommodate a logo under its final protective coating or decaling. White is the standard curtain color, but several other colors are available at no extra cost. One removable intermediate support is installed on each side of the body for support.
- Curtain Closure Options
- We offer two different curtain closure designs for our Curtainside Vans: the Easy-Close and the Buckle-Close. In the Easy-Close design, the curtain is held captive on both the top and the bottom and is secured with single side latch releases in the front and back. The Buckle-Close design leaves the curtain free at the bottom to be secured by a system of buckles across the length of the curtain.
- Strongest Van Foundation
- Marion uses 4", high-tensile steel I-beam crossmembers rather than the 3" crossmembers used by many companies; the 4" ones are over 200% stronger. Spacing is kept at 12" centers to ensure a solid foundation. In the critical wheel area, full width tapered crossmembers that are double bolted to the rails support the floor. This allows the proper tire clearance without sacrificing structural integrity under the floor. Additional crossmembers can be added as an option.
- Exceptional Undercoating Protection
- For the finest under body protection, the undercoating is done in-plant immediately after the floor is built while the surface is pristine. Marion uses a premium, 100% acrylic resin undercoating that does not flash dry, but penetrates the wood producing a rubbery, tough protective surface that is highly resilliant to stone, ice, and salt abrasion. The 4" I-beam crossmembers are precoated at the steel mill so rust protection covers all surfaces, including the top, which is an important area because it is a water and salt trap.
- Strong Front Wall
- To help withstand forklift abuse and prevent cargo from shifting forward of the front corner posts, Marion installs an interior bulkhead at the base of the front wall. This bulkhead is composed of a 3" x 4" x 3/16" angle stop at floor level and 2" x 2" x 1/8" vertical tubing on 16" centers.
