Gas Cylinder Bodies

Almost every Marion truck body is custom built. Because we believe that our niche is to bring our customers personalized products for their individual needs, we work extra to make every truck body fit our customers' requirements. Many options are available on our standard line of dry vans and our engineering staff can custom design any specialized ones.

Both of our gas cylinder body designs (open style and enclosed style) can support high capacity liftgates which can be ordered with cylinder retention railings.

Features

Enclosed Style Gas Cylinder Bodies

Enclosed Style Body for Cargo Protection
An enclosed body style offers much greater protection for both cargo and personnel, and keeps them out of inclimate weather. Lighting inside the body is provided by a one-piece, translucent Kemlite roof for outstanding visibility and improved safety.
Superior Strength Floor
A strong, durable floor is important in hauling a heavy cargo of cylinders. In constructing a Marion enclosed style gas cylinder body, 4" I-beam crossmembers on 12" centers form the foundation for flooring composed of a 12 ga. steel treadplate over a 1-1/8" laminated hardwood subfloor.
Durable and Functional Interior
The interior lining is 1/4" full-height plywood which is installed flush with the vertical posts. These logistical vertical posts are double-slotted and are set on 16" centers to provide maximum flexibility in fastening locations - from front to rear, floor to ceiling. To increase the strength of the body, 1" square steel tubing, which also acts as a rub rail, is welded to the wall posts, and an 8" high, 12 ga. steel reinforcement angle is secured to the base of the front wall to protect from cylinder impact.
Galvanealed Steel Rear Frame
Much of the wear on a truck body occurs on the rear frame, so it follows that durability and strength are critical. We designed our rear frame to be constructed of 12 gauge galvannealed steel with corner posts extending to the bottom of the formed steel threshold. The top header has a built-in rain trough that keeps cargo dry while providing protection for the recessed rear marker safety lights below it. A roll-up rear door is standard, and high quality seals keep the elements out.

Open Style Gas Cylinder Bodies

Rugged Steel Channel Platform
The main platform on our open style gas cylinder bodies is constructed of all structural steel channels with a floor of solid steel grating. The foundation is laid out with 4" structural channel crossmembers on 12" centers. The platform sides are 38" high and are built with 3" structural steel channels with three placards per side. To control splash and spray, solid pans are installed under the grated floor in the wheel areas. The entire body is finished with long-lasting, protective DuPont Imron paint.
Optional Storage Boxes
As seen in the photo above, our open style gas cylinder bodies can be ordered with side storage boxes for hard goods. These optional compartments are 76" high by 36" wide by 20" deep.
