Both heavy and fragile, glass is a difficult cargo to transport, and Marion Glasshaulers are built to meet the challenge. Heavy-duty glass racks allow large pieces to be carried on the exterior, smaller ones on the inside, and additional cargo/equipment can be hauled on the platform. Glasshaulers

Because we believe that our niche is to bring our customers personalized products for their individual needs, we work extra to make every truck body fit our customers' requirements. Many options are available on our standard line of Glasshaulers and our engineering staff can custom design specialized ones.

Marion Glasshaulers are designed for maximum durability and cargo protection. The foundation, undercoating, front wall, and glass racks are specially built to withstand the rigors of road duty. Our Glasshaulers also feature precoated I-beam crossmembers, front corner posts of high tensile strength aluminum (not a soft rolled aluminum sheet), and proprietary crossmember support in the wheel areas like our best-selling line of dry vans. With tandem axle reinforcement, Marion Glasshaulers can readily handle the large weights of cargos of glass.

Features

Curbside and Roadside Glass Racks
Our glass racks are constructed of high tensile strength tubular steel and are protected with DuPont Imron polyurethane paint. They are mounted on both sides of the front section of the body and are 150" long by 110" high. Eight rows of series "A" (slotted) logistic track with rubber pads on 8" centers are centered up 5", 10", 15", 26", 46", 66", 86", and 106" from the 14" ledgeboard on each side. Rubber pads along the ledgeboard (on 12" centers) and up the front vertical panel (centered at the same locations as the "A" track) protect glass in the event that it would shift forward against the wall. Removable club bars allow the positioning of glass at any location. An optional roadside glass rack can be installed on the rear platform. In addition to the front glass rack features, this rear rack has four rows of "E" (slotted) horizontal logistic track, without rubber pads, on its inner side.
FRP Body Construction
The main body of our Glasshaulers is constructed of white, color impregnated, 3/4" thick Fiberglass Reinforced Panels (FRP). Front bulkheads prevent load shifts forward and help protect glass from road debris. The floor is 1-3/8" laminated hardwood. The interior section has ten rows of series "F" (round hole) logistic track from side to side on the floor and ceiling mounted on 12" centers to 12 ga. straight steel hat sections in the ceiling. Five rows of series "A" (slotted) horizontal logistic track with rubber pads on 8" centers are bolted though the side walls centered 13", 28", 43", 59", and 72" up from the floor. There is a chain gate and a curtain at the rear of the interior section.
Rear Structural Platform
Behind the front FRP body is a 102" wide structural platform with a curbside stake rack. The stake pockets are made of 7 ga. steel on 24" centers and are welded to the side rails. 1-1/2" by 3" rectangular tubing stakes are bolted to the platform siderails, with four 3/4" by 3-1/4" horizontal hardwood slats attached. Series "E" (slotted) logistic track is welded to the inside of the tubing stakes between the hardwood slats. As an option, the roadside rear glass rack may be replaced with additional stake racks.
Strongest Foundation
Marion uses 4", high-tensile steel I-beam crossmembers rather than the 3" crossmembers used by many companies; the 4" ones are over 200% stronger. Spacing is kept at 12" centers to ensure a solid foundation. In the critical wheel area, full width tapered crossmembers that are double bolted to the rails support the floor. This allows the proper tire clearance without sacrificing structural integrity under the floor. Additional crossmembers can be added as an option.
Exceptional Undercoating Protection
For the finest under body protection, the undercoating is done in-plant immediately after the floor is built while the surface is pristine. Marion uses a premium, 100% acrylic resin undercoating that does not flash dry, but penetrates the wood producing a rubbery, tough protective surface that is highly resilliant to stone, ice, and salt abrasion. The 4" I-beam crossmembers are precoated at the steel mill so rust protection covers all surfaces, including the top, which is an important area because it is a water and salt trap.
Strong Front Wall and Corners
Our front wall is reinforced with a full width 8" high steel reinforcement angle secured to the front crossmember. Aerodynamic extruded aluminum corner posts, top front radius, and cast aluminum corner caps provide protection from weather and tree limb abuse.
